About the Project

This project has been designed in accordance with the requirements for a Masters of Arts at Emerson College. I have spent two years in the Media Arts curriculum, with a concentration in New Media.

To qualify as a Master's project, I have completed this project through three major phases. First, I developed and refined my idea for a media project. The initial concept was to create an educational website that would provide access to older and/or specific information that is not readily digitally available. After determining that I wanted to study the works, times and impact of Bluestocking women writers, I set forward to thoroughly research this area and write website content that would be similar to that of a thesis. An additional goal of this phase was to create an extensive bibliography of resources for those who visited the website. The last phase was to parse and implement this content onto a website that primarily designed as an example of proper information architecture.

This site has been designed with several intents and purposes:

  1. To provide an interesting, tasteful and well-designed aesthetic that corresponds with the website's purpose and message.
  2. To provide unique, user-centered pathways to access and experience the material.
  3. To parse material into small, understandable sections that would provide a general knowledge of the subject material.
  4. To provide an exhaustive and comprehensive bibliography.
  5. To showcase the media capabilities I have developed since entering the program at Emerson College.
  6. To develop an intense understanding of information organization, architecture, and application, as a piece of digital scholarship.
